Privacy Policy for Ledgory

Ledgory is a receipt & expense scanner that helps freelancers and small businesses capture receipts, log expenses and income, track mileage, organize clients, and generate tax-ready reports. Ledgory is designed to be offline-first: your financial data stays on your device. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is protected.

Summary

• We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal or financial data.
• All the expenses, receipts, mileage, and client information you enter is stored locally on your device.
• There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party backend operated by us.
• Receipt scanning (OCR) runs entirely on your device.
• Backups and purchases are handled by you and by Google, respectively (see below).

Information the app handles

The following information is created and kept only on your device and is never sent to us:

• Expense and income records — merchant, amounts (subtotal, tax, total), currency, category, payment method, dates, projects, billable/reimbursable status, and any notes you add.
• Receipt photos — pictures you take or select to attach to an expense.
• Mileage trips — purpose, distance, rate, and the from/to descriptions you type in.
• Vehicles — an optional list of your vehicles (name, make/model, registration, vehicle type and fuel type) that you can attach to mileage trips.
• Clients — client names and notes you create to organize your work.
• App settings and preferences — such as your default currency, tax and mileage rates, your Pro entitlement status, and the date of your last backup.

Device permissions and why they are used

• Camera — to photograph and scan receipts. Images are stored locally.
• Photos / media — to attach existing receipt images to an expense.
• Notifications — to show optional local reminders (for example, a prompt to back up or to log an expense). Reminders are scheduled on your device.
• Biometric / fingerprint — to optionally lock the app. Authentication is performed by Android; Ledgory never accesses or stores your fingerprint or face data.
• Internet — used to complete in-app purchases through Google Play, to load app resources, and (only when you tap “calculate distance” on a mileage trip) to estimate the distance between the start and end places you typed. Ledgory does not send your expenses, receipts, or other financial records over the internet.

Ledgory does not request location or GPS access and does not track your location. You enter your mileage trips manually. If you use the optional “calculate distance” helper, the start and end places you typed are sent to your device’s geocoding service (provided by Google on most devices) over the internet to look up their coordinates and estimate the distance; only that text is used for the lookup.

Receipt scanning (OCR)

When you scan a receipt, text recognition is performed on your device using Google’s ML Kit on-device text recognition. The receipt image and the recognised text are not uploaded to us or to any third party; the results are saved with your expense locally.

Backups

Backups are optional and fully under your control. When you create a backup, Ledgory builds a portable .ledgory file on your device and opens the standard Android share sheet so you can save it wherever you choose (for example, Google Drive, OneDrive, or local storage). Ledgory does not operate any cloud storage and does not have access to the destination you choose. Any data placed in a third-party service is then governed by that service’s own privacy policy.

Purchases

Ledgory offers Ledgory Pro through a monthly or annual subscription and a one-time lifetime purchase, which unlock premium features. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Ledgory never sees or stores your payment card details; it only receives whether the purchase was successful so it can unlock the feature. Google’s handling of payment information is described in Google’s own privacy policy. Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled at any time in the Google Play Store.

Data sharing

We do not share your data with anyone, because we do not collect it. Ledgory contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no crash-reporting service operated by us.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored locally, you are always in control of it. You can delete individual expenses, trips, and clients within the app, and uninstalling Ledgory removes all of its data from your device. Any backup files you exported yourself remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.

Children’s privacy

Ledgory is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Your data resides on your device and is protected by your device’s own security. You can enable biometric lock within Ledgory for an additional layer of protection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
